Extra-mural activities
Extra-mural activities exist outside the walls of DARAQ’s learning environment. We believe that extra-mural activities form an important role in the holistic curriculum of each learner. Participation in extra-mural activities promotes creativity and imagination, expands social, emotional and intellectual skills of the learner. It enhances the learner’s individual development and interest in diverse fields. Our extra-mural activities are organized in such a manner that it does not distract the learner from her core studies and consequently interfere with progress. DARAQ recruits qualified instructors, who are supported by the educators, to facilitate specific extra-mural activities. DARAQ’s programme includes activities such as communication, art, excursions and physical activities.
Outreach activities
DARAQ’s Community Outreach Programmes forms an important part of its education programme. DARAQ educators identify a specific need in the community and encourage the students to render voluntary services to those in need. Outreach programmes benefit both the recipient and the learner who provides the service. Some parents often shelter their children from the problems of the community such as poverty, homelessness, challenges of the aged, etc. One way to present these social issues to children in a gentle manner is to encourage participation in community outreach activities. When students feel they are helping to solve crucial issues, it fosters an inspired and responsible character rather than a fearful one. DARAQ networks with established organizations to enable its students to reach out to those who cannot help themselves.
